About the event

5 - Week Beginners Throwing Evening Course

Suitable for complete beginners, this course offers in-depth tutoring of all of the foundational skills of throwing pottery on the wheel.

Over 5 sessions you will guided by Lucy, a professional potter and experienced teacher, through the processes of wedging, centering and coning, pulling up to create height and turning and trimming.

The throwing is broken-down into manageable steps, moving through the stages altogether as a group and then after that, when participants pretty much have got the hang of things, at their own pace with individual tutoring as and when required.

Located in a pottery workshop within the historic Maws Craft Centre, near the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ironbridge. This site was once a renowned, tile manufacturer in the 19th century (Maw & Co), producing tiles that were exported throughout the world.
