What to Expect

These fun and creative workshops are perfect for young people who enjoy making things with their hands.

Using air-drying clay, children will learn a range of hand-building techniques to create their own unique ceramic pieces.

With demonstrations and individual guidance from Lucy, an experienced teacher, everyone will be encouraged to develop their ideas and enjoy the process of working with clay.

At the end of the workshop, they'll take their creations home to dry. Once dry, the pieces can be painted and decorated at home.

• Parents and carers are welcome to drop off and collect at the end of the session. Lucy is DBS checked and experienced in teaching children and young people.

Wheel Throwing (Ages 13–17)

Individual Sessions: £30
5-Week Course: £150

This hands-on wheel throwing course is perfect for teenagers who are curious about learning to throw on the pottery wheel.

Book the full 5-week course to build your skills week by week, or choose individual sessions if you'd simply like to give it a go.

With step-by-step demonstrations and individual guidance from Lucy, an experienced teacher and production potter, students will be supported at their own level.

Beginners will learn the fundamentals of centring and shaping clay, while returning students will build on their skills by refining forms, exploring bowls, cylinders, small plates, and having a go at glazing.

What's Included

Your own pottery wheel and tools for the duration of each session

All clay and materials provided

Individual sessions: £30 each – designed as a fun introduction to wheel throwing, focused on the experience of learning and experimenting with clay. Please note that pieces made during individual sessions are not fired or taken home unless you choose the optional glazing and twice-firing service (£12.50 per piece).

5-week course: £150 – includes glazing and twice firing of up to 4 selected pieces, giving students the opportunity to take home finished work as they develop their skills. Students will also have the chance to have a go at glazing their own pieces.

Maximum 6 students

Suitable for ages 13–17 and complete beginners

Parents and carers can leave teenagers to enjoy the sessions independently and return for collection at the end. Lucy is DBS checked and an experienced teacher.

What to bring

Please bring an apron. Alternatively, an apron and towel bundle can be hired at checkout for £5.

Wear comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting a little messy, and keep your nails short if using the pottery wheel.
