Safeguarding & Child Protection Statement
Lucy Young Ceramics is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people attending workshops and activities.
The safety and wellbeing of every child is paramount. All reasonable steps will be taken to provide a safe, supportive and inclusive environment in which children can learn, create and enjoy working with clay.
Lucy Young Ceramics is DBS checked and experienced in teaching children and young people.
Lucy Young is the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for all children's and teenage workshops.
Any safeguarding concerns or disclosures will be taken seriously and responded to appropriately in line with local safeguarding procedures.
Parents and carers are encouraged to raise any concerns relating to the safety or wellbeing of their child..
Missing Child and Late Collection Procedure
An attendance register will be taken at the start of each workshop.
Children must be collected promptly at the advertised finish time.
If a child has not been collected within 15 minutes of the end of the session, parents/carers will be contacted using the details provided on the consent form. If they cannot be reached, emergency contacts will be contacted.
Lucy Young Ceramics cannot accept responsibility for children outside of advertised workshop times. However, all reasonable steps will be taken to ensure a child remains safe until an appropriate adult can be contacted.
If there are concerns regarding a child's safety or whereabouts, appropriate agencies, including the police, may be contacted.
If a child goes missing during a workshop, the studio and immediate surrounding area will be searched immediately. Parents/carers will be informed and, where appropriate, the police contacted without delay.
First Aid
A fully stocked first aid kit is available at all workshops.

If you have any concerns relating to your child's safety, wellbeing or experience whilst attending a Lucy Young Ceramics workshop, please contact Lucy Young directly in the first instance. Any safeguarding concerns will be taken seriously and responded to appropriately in line with local safeguarding procedures.
